Mary’s Peak Update: visible snow on June 3!

In a previous post, I wrote about the local legend of observable snow on Mary’s Peak on or after June 1. Twice in recent years (1999 and 2008), snow has been visible from Corvallis in June.

On June 3, 2011, I took the following photos from southwest Corvallis:

Mary’s Peak from Country Club Road near 53rd Street

Mary’s Peak, same location as previous photo, zoomed in

Mary’s Peak, zoomed in further

Yep, it happened! Snow on Mary’s Peak visible from Corvallis!

I wonder if there is still snow in pockets today? On the NW side maybe?
